Maple Affogato Recipe

Inspired by the traditional Italian "affogato al cafe" this treat takes a New England twist by using Maple ice cream rather than traditional plain gelato.

Make this a special but no stress dessert for a crowd by making the ice cream the day before, then scooping into individual serving glasses before guests arrive. Store in the freezer until you have brewed extra strong coffee or espresso and are ready to serve.

Maple Affogato Recipe

Inspired by the traditional Italian "affogato al cafe" this treat takes a New England twist by using Maple ice cream rather than traditional plain gelato.

Ingredients

1 pint (2 cups) heavy cream
¼ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp salt
⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk
¼ cup Ben's 100% Pure Maple Syrup (more for swirling into ice cream or drizzling on top of each serving)
Hot espresso or extra strong brewed coffee - approximately 2 oz per serving

Directions

Whisk together vanilla, salt, sweetened condensed milk, and maple syrup.
In a separate metal bowl (or stand up mixer) whip heavy cream until peaks form. Do not over mix or you will make butter!
With a spatula, fold syrup mixture (from above) into whipped cream. Whip for about 30 seconds to fully combine.
If you would like extra maple goodness swirl in a few tablespoons of maple syrup.
Spoon into chilled metal loaf pan.
Freeze covered for 4-6 hours or until desired consistency.
Store up to a week in freezer but best eaten right away.
Brew strong coffee or espresso.

For Serving:

Scoop ice cream into serving glass or bowl (glasses are best for drinking the remaining espresso and melted sweet maple cream)
Top (drown) your ice cream with 1 - 2 oz of hot espresso.
