This is amazing, the perfect sweet and salty combination of creamy cheese wrapped in a buttery, flaky phyllo pastry dough. Traditionally a Greek appetizer served with toasted sesame seeds but great as a meal served over a salad of olives, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- Ben’s Honey
- Blocks of feta cheese
- Phyllo dough - found in your grocery freezer, thaw in your refrigerator before using!
- Olive oil
- Fresh herbs, everything bagel seasoning, crushed red pepper (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Cut your feta into blocks of 3x4 inches.
- Spread out two phylo sheets and brush with olive oil, drizzle with honey, and sprinkle on herbs and seasonings.
- Place a block of feta on the center and fold in like a burrito. Brush the outside with olive oil.
- Repeat with all blocks of feta.
- You can simply bake on a parchment lined baking sheet for 20 minutes. For extra crisp heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat, add olive oil to coat the skillet. Add the phyllo wrapped feta with tongs, frying each side about 1-2 minutes until browned and crispy. Remove from skillet and bake in the oven on prepared pan for 8-10 minutes.
- Plate baked feta, drizzle with more Ben’s Honey and a sprinkle of fresh herbs. Enjoy!
