This maple balsamic glaze is the star of this simple appetizer. Best thing is that you can prepare it ahead of time, then have a quick, simple, yet impressive party favorite ready in no time. Let the Brie come to room temperature after slicing, it tastes best this way.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of Ben’s maple syrupÂ
- ½ cup of balsamic vinegar
Crisp pears for slicing. Do not choose overly soft pears. Apples are a good substitute.
- Brie cheese
Directions
- Combine the maple syrup and the balsamic vinegar in a pan and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Simmer until the liquid is reduced by about half. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon. Be careful not to burn by stirring and reducing the heat if necessary.
- Wash, core, and slice the pears evenly.
- Slice the Brie in rectangular shapes, about ¼ inch thick. You can leave the rind on.
- Assemble the appetizers by layering the pears first and then Brie. Drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving. If your glaze is too runny you can simmer it longer so that it becomes thick and candy like. If you are preparing the glaze ahead of time and storing it in the refrigerator, wait to do this until ready to use or it will become too hard to drizzle once cooled!
- Enjoy!
